About The MetroParks of the Trumbull County

The MetroParks of Trumbull County form a comprehensive regional park system covering multiple natural reserves and recreation areas across Trumbull County, Ohio. Comprised of over 4,000 acres of protected land, the MetroParks provide a mix of forested hills, wetlands, prairies, and waterways that support rich biodiversity including native wildlife and plant species. Historically, the region was used for farming and industry but has since been restored to provide outdoor recreation and conservation opportunities for residents and visitors. Key parks include the Harvard Forest Reservation and Mosquito Creek Park, which feature extensive trail networks, picnic areas, and water-based recreation. The trail system, totaling over 25 miles, offers everything from easy walking paths to moderate hiking and off-road biking routes, making the parks accessible for all skill levels. Visitors appreciate the peaceful landscapes, seasonal wildflower blooms, and excellent birdwatching. The MetroParks also host educational programs focusing on nature, conservation, and outdoor skills. The proximity to Warren and other nearby towns helps make the MetroParks highly accessible while preserving significant natural habitat within an increasingly developed area. With a balance of recreation and natural resource protection, these MetroParks serve as an important green space for Trumbull County and neighboring communities.
